For the first time this competitive element is being introduced to the programme. Fred Brierley, organiser, for many years of the Durham Traditional Music Festival has agreed to bring the competitions which were part of that event into the Sedgefield weekend. Fred will be the contact for all aspects of this part of the Festival programme
There will be 2 competitions for juniors
1 Unaccompanied song
2 Miscellaneous instrument performance.
For the adult folk enthusiasts a range of 4 events is available.
1 The Tommy Armstrong Song writing trophy
2 The James Hill tune writing trophy
3 An open competition for the best unaccompanied song
4 An open competition for the best instrumental playing of 3 tunes with different rhythms.
These will take place during Saturday afternoon in the upstairs rooms at Ceddesfeld Hall.
