Welcome to the home page of the Sedgefield Folk Festival.
A monthly folk club operates at the Cricket Club outside of the cricket season. Also a number of Festival Fundraisers and charity events are organised throughout the year. Details here. From its modest beginning within a single venue in September 2006, the festival has gradually expanded to cater for the tastes and interests of travelling folk music enthusiasts and local residents alike. Much media interest has been directed at the world spoon playing championships which the festival is rightly proud to host again this year. This year we are also hosting a total of six competitions for
singers and musicians which were formerly held as part of the Durham
Traditional Music Festival. The festival operates within the Ceddesfeld Community Association and a specific, dedicated committee work hard to organise a full programme of events that will bring visitors into this delightful medieval County Durham village. Sedgefield Folk Festival always takes place on the first full weekend of September. One of our main objectives, being a small Festival, is to ensure that all visitors have an event to attend, be it concert, singaround, music session, workshop or dance display. In recent years Vin Garbutt, Billy Mitchell, Bernard Wrigley, the late John Wright, the Doonan Family Band, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and the Acoustic Strawbs have headlined the concert programmes. This medieval village has a good range of pubs, shops and eating establishments to cater for the weekend visitor. Also a pleasant caravan & camping site on the edge of the village. You can see
details of businesses that welcome festival goers here. Please note:
